"Offset carbon emissions on your mobile phone."

Mobile Offset

What is Carbon Offsetting?

Our everyday activities from watching TV, heating our homes, to producing and transporting the food that we eat all lead to carbon being released into the environment.  We can all take steps to reduce these emission, but by making a carbon reduction elsewhere, we can offset the emission that we do release.  Therefore, for every 1Kg of CO2 produce in your activities, 1Kg of CO2 can be reduced elsewhere.

How does Mobile Offset spend my money?

Mobile Offset will invest in activities such as planting trees, sustainability project and investing in energy saving projects around the world.  We do not run any carbon offsetting project ourselves.  Funds are sent to a range of carefully selected accredited carbon offsetting companies who invest on projects on our behalf.  The contributions will be detailed in our quarterly news letter and annual accounts.

How do you work my CO2 emissions?

To work out CO2 emissions, we work on averages.  For example, we know how much energy the average TV consumes and how many hours of TV the average person watched.  Likewise, we know what the CO2 emissions of an average car are however if you drive a larger car, for example, it is likely your CO2 emissions per mile will be higher.

What do you do with my old recycled phone?

Many handsets are refurbished and re-used by charitable organisations.  If the handset is not suitable, parts are refurbished and the batteries disposed of safely.  Once your phone has been re-used, we will offset 500kg of Carbon on your behalf.

Is Carbon Offsetting a cure for Climate Change?

No.  We cannot reverse the effects already caused by greenhouse gases.  Carbon offsetting helps to minimise current global emissions.

How can I reduce my carbon emissions?

First you need to understand what activities you do are responsible for releasing CO2 emissions in to the atmosphere.  They you can look at each of these activities and see if you can reduce the CO2 being released or even cut it all together.  A great website to start and learn more is actonco2.direct.gov.uk.
